Create CA stands in solidarity with our communities during this deeply troubling time, as Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids and protests continue across Los Angeles. We are heartbroken by the fear and uncertainty that these events are causing, particularly for students and their families.
We believe that schools must always be safe places for every child—places of belonging, learning, and creativity, not fear. California laws (SB 48 and AB 699) protect students and their families from unwarranted immigration actions on school campuses. No child should come to school worried about the safety of their family or their future. Every student deserves to feel secure, supported, and valued.
We affirm the dignity and humanity of all people, regardless of immigration status. We call for every individual to be treated with respect, compassion, and due process of law. Our commitment to equity in education includes standing against policies and actions that dehumanize or destabilize our communities.
Now more than ever, we must come together to support one another, especially our young people. We urge school leaders, educators, and policymakers to ensure that schools remain welcoming spaces where students are free to learn, create, and thrive.
We stand with families. We stand for justice. We stand for the right of every child to feel safe and supported at school.
