Important Update from Create CA’s Board of Directors: Create CA’s Executive Director Tom DeCaigny will depart in November to become the next Program Officer in the Performing Arts Program at the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation

Statement from Create CA’s Board of Directors

With mixed emotions, we announce the departure of our Executive Director, Tom DeCaigny, from Create CA. Tom has accepted a new and exciting opportunity as the next Program Officer in the Performing Arts Program at the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. While we are sad to see him leave Create CA, we also extend our heartfelt congratulations on this well-deserved opportunity.

Tom has been an invaluable leader during his tenure at Create CA, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to advancing arts education in California. His passion and vision have significantly contributed to the growth and success of our organization and the broader arts education community. Tom has guided Create CA through a successful merger and statewide ballot measure campaign and forged meaningful partnerships and collaborations that have elevated the impact of arts education across the state. We know he will bring the same passion and commitment to his new role at the Hewlett Foundation.

Tom’s last day with Create CA will be November 15, 2023. We have begun the search process for a new Executive Director to build upon the strong foundation that Tom has laid and to continue our mission of advocating for equitable access to arts education for all students in California. We have an incredible team at Create CA, and we will carry on our work without disruption.
